Encourage Your Child

“I need to be the encourager of my family.

Write little love notes to my children (lunchbox; backpack).

My presence. My smile. Children need to know they have MY trust;

give them opportunities to earn it. Create in them an HONEST trust in your leadership.”

In everything we do, our family identity of hard work, adventure, and perseverance show through in how we communicate with our children.  With adventure, most of the time with young children they need to be encouraged to try something they are not comfortable with, or even scared of.  That encouragement usually requires lots of "pregame discussion", talking about being brave, and then also bringing up times in the past where my children have "trusted daddy" and everything turned out just fine.

A track record of trust is vital to enable the encouraging words not only to penetrate their mind, but into their heart as well. Whether adults or children, we all long for someone to tell us we are capable of conquering our fears and challenges, and for children, especially when they are young, it is vital to constantly encourage them to in order to build self esteem and confidence.  We all have a tape playing in our mind, over and over, and the more our children hear encouraging words, even if they are a little over the top and repetitive, the more it sinks in and the recording is one that is positive and uplifting.

A recording that is positive is a strong foundation for when your children won't have you coaching or cheering them on from the sidelines, the investment now will pay dividends in the future!
