Apgar Test and Chart
The Apgar Test measures five critical areas of newborn vitality within the first minute after birth and then five minutes later. Each point is given a value, and the sum total provides the score. A score of 7-10 is considered normal and indicates a baby in good condition. A score of 4-6 indicates a baby who probably needs respiratory assistance, and a score of 0-3 indicates the need for lifesaving intervention.
