Protecting the Innocence of Childhood is a study in the basics of human sexuality, especially the developing sexuality of our children. The Ezzos believe it is right to let children be children as long as they can, and believe it is wrong to rush children into adulthood through the medium of premature sexual knowledge. There is no faster way to rob a child of the innocence of childhood than inappropriate sex education. Children only get one childhood. What are you doing to protect it? Session 1:
How do we satisfy giving our children age appropriate sexual knowledge whilst protecting the innocence of their childhood without compromising the integrity of either? The way forward will not be easy – it will be counter-cultural. This session looks into the challenge of actually Protecting the Innocence of Childhood in this technological saturated environment.
So we ask: What does God say about human sexuality and the sexual innocence of children? What does He say about purity and the role of parents in forming right attitudes in their children’s minds and hearts about their own sexuality? This series discusses the practical how-to’s of sex education and much more. By the end of this series you should have the confidence of knowing how, what, and when to communicate biological truth to your children with biblical values attached without fearing that you are giving your children too much or too little information.
Session 2:
The session covers guidelines and influences governing the preparation side of moral and sexual development. What home life influences can help a child properly manage the challenges associated with sensual knowledge? From toddler through to pre-school years children begin forming their understanding of sexually related concepts through the many subtle impressions created by parental example, attitudes and emphases. These impressions become the filters by which children interpret all future sexual knowledge.
Sexual knowledge is not innocent knowledge, because it cannot be separated from moral knowledge needed to regulate and manage the associated emotions, desires and responses. Any passing on of sexual knowledge to children requires that amoral foundation be in place that is equal to or greater than the knowledge being presented. Too often age appropriate protections are missing.
Session 3:
This session looks at the indirect method of sex education using the flower as a morally neutral object as the foundation. It takes you through the information, curious, readiness and comprehensive phases that our children will progress through as they mature.
Session 4:
The content covered in this session deals with commonly asked questions in relation to the whole area of human sexuality and protecting the innocence of your children.
